10 Color Camouflage Concealer Palette Review

I am currently a working makeup artist who knows the deep desperation of trying to get your set kit completely stocked on a budget. Concealers can get very expensive when you are trying to buy all the shades that you may need for your clients.

When I was at a Photo Shoot one day me and a fellow artist was talking about new products that can help us build a better more efficient kit and see showed me her Sedona Lace 10 Color Camouflage Concealer Palette. At just $15.99 can you imagine the money you are saving!
Ofcourse I was shocked when I saw the great sized palette with all the colors you would ever need and even more shocked when she told me the price. Immediately I told her to order me one...

After a month of me using it I was sold. As a makeup artist I have a saying that " A good Makeup Artist Uses a Product because of its quality and not its name i.e its mac so its professional"

All the colors are uber creamy, come in warm and cool tones and can easily be blended together to color match your client perfectly. They are a great size, you get more than enough product. I have mine now about 4 months and I still have not touched pan yet.

This palette is a Must have for Makeup enthusiast anywhere. Thx Sedona for making my Clients and pocket Happy

Tips for Breaking into the Wedding Industry

There's a couple ways you can break into doing wedding makeup.

1-Reach out to friends & family, letting them know that you're a makeup artist, but most of all, if they know anyone that's engaged, to gently ask for referrals. Offer to do a complimentary makeup demo, if you don't feel comfortable charging for those services yet.

1a-Another creative way to get the word out is to look up your engaged friends on Facebook and reach out to them personally!

2-If you're a certified makeup artist or cosmetologist, reach out to the salons in your area. Offer to do a 2-week trial or "audition" so you can show your makeup skills.

2a-Another method is reaching out to experienced wedding makeup artists and offering to assist them for free. You would be their assistant--offer whatever help they may need, such as cleaning brushes, helping set up on site, etc.

3-If your pockets are deep enough, sign up to do a few wedding shows in your area. That is the best way to jumpstart your wedding makeup business, since you will be provided a list of brides to follow up with. Good makeup skills are not enough to cultivate a bridal clientele, you should also have good salesmanship skills--such as following up, making phone calls, and being aggressive. After these expos, brides get a deluge of solicitation calls from vendors, so you might have to reach out up to 6x just to get an appointment (unless they say no).

4-Again, if you have the money, I'd recommend signing up with MG Hair & Makeup. Megan Garmers runs an agency exclusively for wedding makeup artists & hairstylists. You set up an interview and pay into the classes - www.mghairandmakeup.com/Careers_Classes_1.html. Also, she runs the bridal beauty artists network, which is a more affordable option, if you're already trained in hair/makeup (http://www.bridalbeau....

5-After every successful appointment (wedding-related or not), remember to collect testimonials! It can be either typed or video-recorded (preferred). As you collect testimonials, people will know the quality of service you give your clients, and you're able to show them to the brides you have trial appointments. Also, offer an incentive for existing clients to refer your services, such as a free gift or complimentary service.

Reality Check: Hair Battle Spectacular

Reality TV is something American’s can’t get enough of, especially when a profession is involved. Project Runway has been giving fashion designers a spotlight for a number of seasons now, Top Chef has allowed foodies and consumers to see just how hot it gets in the kitchen and thanks to networks like BRAVO and Oxygen, the general public now understands how hard salon professionals work with shows like Blow Out, Split Ends and Shear Genius. Recently added to the lineup of salon-based programming is Hair Battle Spectacular,” a competition series that pits 10 of America’s hottest fantasy hair stylists against each other for $100,000-- set to premiere Tuesday, August 10, 2010.

We recently got our hot little hands on a pre-cut, raw version of the first episode and we can say this competition is going to be filled with MAJOR drama. What do we love most? Yes, the fantasy hair is pretty incredible and you can see how much time and effort gets put into creating these impressive (and sometimes ridiculous) style, but it has to be when stylists are forced to duke it out Mike Tyson style in a boxing ring during the ultimate face-off. Seriously folks, this is going to be one show you WON’T want to miss.

The show is going to be hosted by the one and only Brooke Burns, and judges include the award-winning Derek J (who can also be seen on The Real Housewives of Atlanta and the documentary of Good Hair) and celebrity stylist Lindsay Albanese along with a panel of rotating guest judges who will be critiquing and determining the fate of each contestant. And speaking of contestants, let’s meet them shall we?

Glamazonian Transformation Jade Amethyst

Welcome Maria, I have known this Chica since I was 5 years old but I have never had the Tribal Duty of transforming her. After one day of her just coming over my house and chit chatting i asked her if she wanted to be transformed. She was a Lil' hesitite at first since is normally a very Casual Dressing girl. After i convinced her she said okay and here are the results.

Doing her transformation reminded me how Passionate I am about my work, after seeing a clients confidence go sky high and for them to actually thank you for making them feel Beautiful brings a tear to my eye. Women like Maria is the reason why I do what I do...

Beyonce :: Telephone :: Tutorial

When I 1st saw the Lady Gaga's and Beyonce new music video for :: Telephone :: I Gagged at the oozzesss of glam spewing from their pores! Sort of a modern day version of a Femme Fatal, Today's Glamazons are confident and powerful!

I remember when I woke up that day to go to school (Cosmetology) I was trying to decide what makeup look to do for that day and TADAAA I immediately thought of Beyonce's yellowed eye vixen!

The look took me about 10 minutes to complete from Foundation to Lips... I wish i would have made a video Tutorial but the glitterati spirit took over and In i went..

Now as you may know I had to kick it up a Notch , Beyonce has on a matte Dust Yellow compared to My Shimmer Canary yellow from the BH Cosmetics 120 Pallet. Of course No need explaining the priming and the prepping.

1.  Primed and Prepped eyes ;) ( I used Too Faced Shadow Insurance & Mac beiging Shade stick )
2.  Get a jar lid or lil' Plate and Squeeze a couple drop of  Visine or Mac Fix + if you have it. This will make the color even more vibrant.
3.  Dip Eyeshadow brush in the Visine then rub onto the color of your desire. Begin to pat NOT brush the color onto the eyelid only. Try to avoid the outer V because you are going to use a different brush for that. Pat as much color as needed
4. Grab your Eyeliner brush and do the same that you did with your 1st brush but this time you are going to "draw" the yellow out to you outer v like you would when applying eyeliner and wing it out and bring it back in to the lid. Then when you are done draw from the winged out yellow back  to your eye crease and paint the crease so it can look SHARP.
5. Finish your look with Black Eyeliner ( I Used a Gel Liner from Coastal Scents) & Mascara

Here is the video for those of you who want to get inspired by the other million looks in it!

Lush Sole Revival

Oh-M-Gee is all I can really say about this summer Lush Must Have. A box full of goodies for your toesies!  ( Lets out a Tribal Yell, Ahhhh) When i heard that Lush was releasing this summer kit i ran to my local Lush spot and picked one up. Not only is the kit an all in one but each container has a coupon, Yes!

If you use up your product ( Like Volcano for example) if you return that container to your local Lush store and decided to purchase a full size you will receive 15% percent off... AMAZING right?

Each Kit Includes:

Volcano Foot Mask

I took this, plastic bags, and an open mind to a girl's night at a spa. After massages, I slathered this on our feet (hers--well manicured and lovely,) mine (callused, dry, cracked and a wreck since I NEVER wear shoes.)
Yes, it was a mess, no it didn't burn--just got warm. Her feet came out even softer, but mine were the true miracle. Calluses literally peeled off--a complete exfoliation pedicure never did such a good job! I was astonished and will save my money (LUSH is an expensive addiction) and get this again--and again--and again.

Little Feet Bath Bomb

It like a bath bomb for your feet LOVE!  Enough said!

Running to the Embassy Body Butter

The first time I used Embassy I wet my feet in the bath tub, applied the bar of butter, then rinsed them and patted my feet dry. I felt like I had rinsed away all the butter although my feet felt much smoother.
The second time I used Embassy, I applied the bar of butter directly to dry feet before going to bed and decided this was how I would use it from now on. I liked the slight oil residue it left when applied to my dry feet. I rubbed the oil around on my feet to moisturize them while I slept. The scrubby particles are so subtle you don't even notice them and they are surprisingly effective despite how gently they exfoliate. I found the peppermint scent to be fresh and clean yet soothing.

Pied de Pepper Foot Lotion

Great smelling peppermint scented foot lotion , a little runny but great for tired tootsies!

Fair Trade Foot Lotion

I use it at least 5 out of 7 days a week, but I am just not thrilled with the results. It smells nice, but it only really keeps my feet smooth for a few hours after I put it on. This says to me that this stuff is just not strong enough for my feet. I want something that, when used on a regular basis, keeps my feet smooth. Sadly, this means I will probably go back to what I was using.
Now, that said, if you are one of those people blessed with generally smooth feet that don't need a lot of care to stay that way, this would probably be great for you. It also makes a lovely massage lotion for feet, or anywhere really. The small is nice and uplifting, and it does a good job of moisturizing my hands. Overall, this is a good product, it is just not strong enough for my feet.

Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter

I am a life-long nail biter. My hands, particularly my cuticles were in terrible, peely, disgusting shape. Add to this the fact that I hate the way lotions and most cuticle treatments feel on my hands, and you have some pretty nasty fingers.

Until Lemony Flutter.
My hands, believe it or not, actually look and feel like real hands now -- no peely cuticles, no rough, sandpapery fingers... just happy, contented wigglies. AND, this stuff soaks in so fast, I don't have time to go "ew ew ew get it off" like I do with everything else I've tried to fix the problem. As an added bonus, you need so little product to sufficiently smooth into your fingers (even when they're as bad as mine) that this pot will seriously last you ages. THANK YOU, Lush!

Lush Ice Blue Soap

I fell in love with ice blue at first glance, hypnotized by its gorgeous translucent blueness, topped with a crust of sparkly white salt. The huge truckle looked so appealing that I couldn't resist buying a big slice of this aromatic soap. I adore this stuff!

All that tingly, minty goodness makes for an awesome shower, and although it melts away fairly quickly, this just gives me an excuse to go back and purchase some more. A LOT more!!

I found this soap to be generally great for everyday use. It's got a somewhat perfect manly scent, but not so overpowering to be a teenage boy's shower gel. It cleans super well and doesn't leave any residue (hard nor sticky).

Although, I will admit it lacks true moisturizing power. Best for guys in the shower or as a hand soap for something fun and different.

Lush Rock Star

I ordered this soap online because I heard sooo much great things about it. But when I got it, I was like ughh..yuck. It smells too sweet, just overwhelming to me. It almost smells a bit like the cough meds I used to take when I was a kid. But after I used it for a couple of times, I LOVE IT! The smell is less overpowering in the shower.

Gosh, and it's so moisturizing! Lathers up better than I thought, better than Honey I washed the Kids, which I LOVE, in my opinion! And the scent is growing on me now. OMG, I just can't get enough of it!

Lush Honey I Washed The Kids Soap

I adore Honey I Washed the Kids. The honey-toffee smell is absolutely to die for, and it lingers for quite some time. The scent fills the shower and then stays on the skin. What's better than that?

It lathers extremely well, and you don't need to use a lot of it to get it to bubble up.

It also leaves my skin feeling very clean and very smooth. One thing that I love to do is take a facial scrub Lush tin and put a little piece of the Honey i washed the Kids soap inside it then throw it in my purse. yeah yeah you may think of course so you can wash your hands with it on the go. Well yes that comes to mind but I also you it as a solid lotion bar. Yes! its that creamy and delicate that it absorbs within your skin and leaves a wonderfully soften skin behind!

Lush Ocean Salt

I was excited to use Ocean Sale Face & body scrub when I got home one brisk May day. It set me back a pretty penny but after having my recent education in Cosmetology I was excited to use a scrub that was 100% Natural and not full of crap!

When I opened the jar it was a shocking blue with what it looked like was Large Pop rocks on top ( That's the Ocean Salt) .

After the first use, my skin felt SO smooth and soft already! It irritated my cheeks a little as they were a bit dry (some stinging and they got some small red patches, but that went away as soon as I put moisturizer on), but for my forehead, nose and chin, it worked great! I've found that this product works the best after you wet your face with warm water -- after a hot shower is best, because your pores are open and the scrub can really work.

When you use this product, be careful about rubbing the product on -- just massage gently. I learned this the hard way... if you scrub hard, it hurts! The salt is abrasive and it does all the work for you. You also only need a tiny bit, which makes the pots a great bargain.

I also absolutely LOVE the smell of this -- it reminds me of a martini or a margarita or something like that. Yummy!

I've been using it nightly to even out my skin, but since I tend to have fairly dry skin, I'm going to start using it only once week.

All in all, this is the best face scrub I've ever used, and it's something I'm going to continue buying.
